# Bitwarden (open-source security and privacy app)

> Bitwarden is a free, open-source security and privacy app for Windows, macOS and Linux. Bitwarden client apps (web, browser extension, desktop, and cli). It has 13,931 GitHub stars and is released under the GPL-3.0 (commercial modules under the Bitwarden License) license, and people use it instead of 1Password and LastPass.

This repository houses all Bitwarden client applications except the mobile applications (iOS | android). Please refer to the Clients section of the Contributing Documentation for build instructions, recommended tooling, code style tips, and lots of other great information to get you started.
