It has 34,016 GitHub stars and is released under the LGPL-2.1 license, and people use it instead of AutoCAD and Fusion 360.

Precompiled packages for stable releases are available for Windows, macOS and Linux on the latest releases page. On most Linux distributions, FreeCAD is also directly installable from the software center application.
