# Naps2 (open-source PDF tool)

> Naps2 is a free, open-source PDF tool for Windows, macOS and Linux. Scan documents to PDF and more, as simply as possible. It has 4,597 GitHub stars and is released under the GPL-2.0-or-later license, and people use it instead of Adobe Acrobat OCR and ABBYY FineReader.

NAPS2 is a document scanning application with a focus on simplicity and ease of use. Scan your documents from WIA, TWAIN, SANE, and ESCL scanners, organize the pages as you like, and save them as PDF, TIFF, JPEG, or PNG. Optical character recognition (OCR) is available using Tesseract.
